Myths Beneath Your Feet
São Miguel doesn’t whisper. It roars from deep within the Earth. This tour takes you across a volcano’s open diary—from Furnas’ steaming craters to the misty highlands of Nordeste. Along the way, you’ll walk above tectonic truths and tales of island gods who sculpted this land in bursts of fury and beauty.
This isn’t a passive ride—it’s an elemental conversation between stone, steam, and sky. And you? You’re part of the story now.
Legends in the Green
Nordeste is what happens when nature refuses to compromise. Think Jurassic forests, moss-draped laurel trees, and quiet villages where time holds its breath. This is São Miguel’s secret garden, where hydrangeas flank every winding road and hawks patrol ancient skies. Pass over lava-formed ridgelines, past waterfalls that plunge with reckless grace.
Sulfur Dreams
Leave logic at the airport—Furnas isn’t a place to understand, it’s a place to feel. Inside this ancient volcanic caldera, the ground exhales steam and the air smells of legend. Locals say the gods still simmer beneath the surface, and honestly, it’s hard to argue. Wander between geysers and bubbling mud pools, then watch your lunch emerge from the earth, slow-cooked in volcanic soil.
Soak it all in—from the hot springs to the surreal sensation of standing inside a sleeping giant.
The Taste of the Land
Gorreana Plantation rises like a dream from another era, where mist clings to rows of bright green leaves and history hums beneath your feet. Then comes the moment: a cup in your hands, still warm, still wild. Whether black or green, the flavor is unmistakable—salted by sea winds, mellowed by volcanic minerals, and sharpened by a thousand foggy mornings. It’s the Azores, distilled into a brew.
You’ll carry the taste long after the cup is empty.

Machinery & Mountain Tea
Gorreana is Europe’s oldest tea plantation, nestled between volcanic hills and Atlantic mist. Since 1883, its rolling green fields have produced organic black and green teas with time-honored precision. Inside the factory, century-old machinery hums as tea leaves are dried, rolled, and packed by hand. A slow walk through the plantation offers more than views—it's a sensory trip through tradition, terroir, and taste.
Surrounded by lush forested slopes and ocean winds, the Gorreana Tea Factory is a living relic of São Miguel’s colonial past and agricultural pride. Family-run for generations, it’s where artisanal tea meets volcanic soil magic. Walk the plantation trails, watch antique machines in action, and end with a cup brewed steps from where it grew. It's not just tea—it’s tradition steeped in every leaf.
Waterfalls & Watermills
In the green heart of Nordeste lies Ribeira dos Caldeirões, a pristine natural park where waterfalls roar and nature reigns supreme. Once home to working watermills, the park now preserves the craftsmanship and rhythm of rural Azorean life.
Volcanic Wonders
Furnas is a geothermal wonderland nestled in the verdant heart of São Miguel Island. Steaming fumaroles, bubbling mud pools and mineral-rich hot springs reveal the volcano’s restless soul. The village of Furnas sits inside a dormant caldera where volcanic power meets tranquil beauty. Stroll through botanical gardens blooming with exotic plants, taste the iconic cozido slow-cooked in the earth, and soak in iron-rich thermal waters—all against a backdrop of volcanic cliffs and a serene crater lake.
